- geology and geomorphology
- ecology, environment and climate
- agriculture
- industry
- human habitation and transport links

See What makes a Landscape for more thoughts on this.

What we do
Our winter meetings (usually Sep-March) are a mixture of talks presented by group members on aspects of Landscape, or research themes. For the research themes one member prepares an introduction and then group members individually research an aspect of the theme. This is followed by short presentations (5-10 minutes) and discussion.

Our research themes have included -
- The Growth of the Railway
- Lead Mining in the North Pennines
- Drove Roads
- Chalk Stream Landscapes
- Field Boundaries

In the summer months we explore Landscape through field visits, with a pub or cafe lunch included.
