Interesting, thought-provoking, current topics are discussed by group members every month. Preparing for the election of 2024, we have looked in detail at some of the problems facing the new UK government, for example our prison system, questioning its purpose and effectiveness and looking at our tax system with its convoluted structure and complex variety and jumble of taxes. We have looked beyond the UK, at why democracy appears to be in retreat and at the history and background of the Israel/Gaza conflict. In the second part of each session, we look at events and news items of the previous month and exchange opinions and ideas in what is often a lively but always courteous discussion!

The aim is to share our thoughts and perceptions of current events and concerns, so that the experiences, knowledge and insights of others enhances our own understanding. The topics may well be serious but we hope not to take ourselves too seriously! We meet from 10.30am to 12.30pm on the second Thursday of each month.

New members are welcome, we currently have spaces for one or two, please feel free to contact me by email or phone. We meet from 10.30 to 12.30pm on the second Thursday of each month.
