Status:Active, open to new members

When: Fortnightly on Wednesday mornings 10:00 am

Convenor: Jane Tel: 07508 363165

We meet fortnightly and the venue varies (please refer to the programme below for information).

All walks start at 10 a.m. unless otherwise stated and are usually around 5 miles and of no more than medium difficulty. We generally finish with a pub lunch or similar, but there is no obligation to stay. Please inform the leader if you intend to walk (not later than 9.00 pm on the evening before). If there is any doubt about the walk going ahead because of the weather, please ring the leader on the morning of the walk.

If you are leading a walk it is sensible to have a mobile phone with you, if you have one, and to make your number available to the other walkers so if anyone is delayed in reaching the meeting point or needs to contact you for any reason once you have left home, they can do so.

27 May From Corbridge, around Aydon Castle - about 4.5 miles. Lunch is at The Angel Corbridge.
Aydon Castle is the sweetie stop and return is via the beautiful village of Aydon. (NB Aydon castle is not open.)
The going in Aydon Castle wood is steep and muddy underfoot for two short sections. There is one stile. Poles advised. Mostly paths, small section of road. Lovely views south to North Pennines.
Meet at 10 am outside Corbridge First School, St Helen's Lane, Corbridge, NE 45 5JQ.
-- From Hexham you can drive along the A695 South of the Tyne, turn left onto the B6321 and cross the river; go round the one way system then turn left up Aydon Road. Turn left at St Helens Lane.
-- Alternatively you can also drive into Corbridge from off the A69 - drive down to the one-way system and turn left into it, then left again up Aydon Road.
Lunch is booked at The Angel, Corbridge for 1pm. Car parking is behind the Angel: they need your car reg at the bar. Alternatively, use the village car park.
HERE is the menu. Please TEXT your meal choices to Alison by Saturday afternoon, 23rd May (please do not phone).

10th June - We start in Slaley near the Rose & Crown pub. I will ask them if we may park in their car park just before 10am as we will be eating there.
The walk is about 4.5 miles mainly on footpaths though fields with wonderful Views. There is one stile with narrow rungs, and paths through Juliet’s Wood Nature Reserve with lots of flowers. There is a short stretch of road and unfortunately a hill climb to finish.
The lunch menu will follow soon (they are preparing a new one for June): I will need to know your food choice by Sunday 7th so I can inform them on Monday morning, so stay tuned.
